Around 25,000 residences in south-east Queensland found themselves lacking electricity on Monday morning after intense storm systems passed over the region, generating strong winds hitting over 100 km/h.
Large Frozen Precipitation and Broad Damage
Residents reported large ice chunks measuring up to seven centimeters in certain regions. Meteorological experts verified that multiple regions across Queensland had been affected by large hailstones.

Emergency crews were attempting to repair power throughout the affected regions, with dozens of response units activated to handle the extensive power failures.
Victoria's Climate Difficulties
Meanwhile, approximately 1,000 energy customers in Victoria also encountered power outages after the capital city recorded its wettest day in over 500 days.
Emergency response teams handled over five hundred calls for help across the state, mainly for building damage but also for downed trees and flooding.

At one point on the previous day, over 28,000 power users in Victoria were without power.

Moist weather were forecast to persist along large portions of Queensland's east this week as a low-pressure trough continued to pull in damp air against the coast.
Tuesday was forecast to be the heaviest precipitation period, with persistent severe weather risk expected across different parts of both states.

Public health experts cautioned that there was an greater possibility of weather-related respiratory issues across the countryside regions, specifically given the ongoing climate situation.
